Repairs, Setups & Customising

The first stage of any setup work is a thorough appraisal of the instrument and a discussion to determine the requirements of the musician - a jazz guitarist will need differing string gauges and action when compared to a shredder. A systematic check list is worked through to identify any major faults before work is undertaken.

Assuming the frets need no remedial work, the strings are then removed and a thorough clean-up executed before the fingerboard is reconditioned with lemon oil. Access to electrical components (should they be fitted) can then be gained for cleaning or replacement before new strings are fitted and stretched in.

The parts that affect playability are then worked upon - truss rod, string height and intonation are set and should a vibrato be fitted, smooth  and reliable operation is attended to.

Basic setups start at £25.00 dependant on the amount of work and string choice.
